"Juggling" My Way Through the Joys of Parenthood & Work
Tina Wysk, Delta Guest Blogger & Founder of Metroplex Baby & Kids
Thursday, 09/02/2010 -- I meet moms weekly who ask me how I "juggle" a full time business and being a mom. I sat down to answer this question and started by looking up the official definition of "juggling." Two definitions caught my eye: (1) "to hold, catch, carry, or balance precariously; almost drop and then catch hold again" and (2) "to alter or manipulate in order to deceive, as by subterfuge or trickery." First, a little bit about my "juggling" act. My name is Tina Wysk. I live in Dallas with my husband and two    READ FULL STORY

My Child Won't Sleep In His Room!
Kim Lake., Mom to Jaden
Tuesday, 08/31/2010 -- When Jaden was born we wanted him as close to me as possible. We wanted to bond with our son and never let him out our sights because he’s our little man. The day he arrived home, I had him in a bassinet in my bedroom for a couple of months and then transitioned him into a crib. It was normal for him to sleep in our room. It was comforting and convenient. When my son turned two – he had his own room. His room was all set up with a toddler bed, books and we decorated the room so, he would enjoy sleeping and playing in there. Jaden    READ FULL STORY

It's Ok to be a kid for the day!
Kim Lake., Mom to Jaden
Monday, August 9, 2010 -- One of my favorite summer things to do with my son Jaden is spending an entire day at Sesame Place. It's like being a kid all over again but with a child to enjoy it with me! It's such a fun environment because it brings these characters on the television to life and it's such an educational place. I remember watching Sesame Street with my nieces and nephews on the weekdays when I would babysit. Now, I get to visit and play all at the same time. There's educational sections, swimming, parks and interactive fun. The kids get to see Elmo,    READ FULL STORY

He turned 3!
Kim Lake., Mom to Jaden
Tuesday, 07/20/2010 My little son, Jaden just turned 3 and I cannot believe how fast he has grown right before my eyes. I wanted the best birthday party possible but I knew I had to scale it back, create a budget with an inexpensive theme, and make it simple and fun for all the kids and our family. I did a lot of shopping beforehand to ensure I had the best deals when shopping for supplies and food. Waiting for the last minute, I’d be stressed out and would just pick up everything in my sight without being price conscious. Two weeks before the birthday c    READ FULL STORY

School's Out, Learning's Not
Delta
Wednesday, July 14, 2010 It’s the middle of July and summer time is in its prime. Camp has started, the beaches are packed, and the activities are endless. It’s hard to keep up with the non-stop summer fun. With all this in mind, this is the perfect time to keep your kid’s mind active and engaged without the tests and homework. During the summer, with no school going on, kids can take on their own personal tasks by choosing what to read and write. We understand it’s hard to manage more learning time when your kid comes home after a full day    READ FULL STORY

Tuesday, 07/06/2010 You know when it’s summer… The weather is 80+ degrees and all you can think about is being outside and lounging under a big tree, a good book to read, swimming in the local pool or just having a lazy day in the house with windows wide open and the fresh warm air enveloping your home. Fireworks, Barbeque & American History
Delta
For Americans – July 4th, 1776 is the most important days in our history. We declared independence and broke away from England’s monarchy, creating the start of the most powerful country. For Thomas Jefferson and our founding fathers, this marks a day of freedom. They created a government based on the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, the first country to do so. They declared this moment as a break from absolute despotism and an entrance to a government for the people of America, not the king of England. John Adams hoped this da    READ FULL STORY

Summer Fun
Isaac S., Summer Intern and Attending Carnegie Mellon in the Fall.
Monday, 06/21/2010 "In summer, the song sings itself" -William Carlos Williams I don't need a calendar to tell me when summer is. I feel it in my senses. I smell the fresh cut grass, hear the birds chirping by my window, and taste the fresh fruit set out by mother. Waking up to sunlight changes my normal cranky mood into a state of bliss. Sunscreen? Check. Sunglasses? Check. Beach Towel? Check. I get ready to enjoy a beautiful day at the beach where I can sit down and enjoy the sunlight. I pop onto my beach chair, take out my book, and dig my feet    READ FULL STORY

Friday, 06/18/2010 On every third Sunday of June -- we celebrate a special person in our life: Our Dads. This year, Father's Day is on June 20th and we should make it special. My dad is an influential person in my life. Without him -- I wouldn't be here literally. She wanted to honor her father for raising the family without a wife, but it was her dad -- William Smart's idea to extend t    READ FULL STORY

Summer picnic fever and childhood memories...

It's such a great feeling when the summer months approach and all you want to do is be outside with family and friends. This week here in New York City - its been beautiful and incredibly warm. It takes me back to my childhood years when we'd all go to the local park and grab our fishing poles so, we could just relax as a family, enjoy mother nature, eat and try to fish.
